Wood Jewel Survival Knife Classic with Fire Steel - 3" Carbon Steel Blade, Birch Handle and Leather Sheath

This is a fine piece of craftsmanship from Finnish Lapland and echoing the tradition and culture of northern Scandinavia.

A simpler version of the popular Survival Knife with large Firestriker, this knife comes with a handy small firestriker steel (and pocket on sheath) that will ensure that wherever the knife is, you can create fire, even at 30 degrees below freezing point

The blade is 7.7cm (3 inches) long, very sharp, and is made from high-quality carbon steel hardened to HRC 63-65 and tempered to HRC 59 to balance ductility and brittleness. The blade extends with an internal tang secured with a rivet to the top of the handle. It has a special sharp notch towards the top of the blade which is used to scrape against the firestriker steel to create sparks that can ignite tinder, paper or small shavings of birch bark, for example. The handle is made of birch.

The sheath is made from wet-formed vegetable-tanned leather and has an additional pocket to accommodate the firestriker. The sheath is attached to a reindeer leather belt hanger.
