The blade of this Spyderco is made of Carpenter Technology's Micro-Melt PD#1 steel. This is an air-hardening cold work steel that has been specially developed for an optimal combination of edge retention and toughness. Thanks to its advanced alloy composition and the CarTech Micro-Melt powder metallurgy production method, the steel has an ultra-fine, homogeneous microstructure, making it extremely sharp and easy to sharpen. Functionally, the steel is comparable to the popular CPM Cru-Wear.
