The Marttiini Aapa is a bold and powerful Finnish puukko that captures the raw, untamed spirit of the northern wilderness embodying the harsh beauty of the Finnish aapa (swamp) landscape. This versatile fixed-blade knife masterfully combines the best features of two legendary traditional models: the broad, drop-point blade of a classic Lapp knife (leuku) for excellent cutting power and control, paired with the wide, ergonomic handle of the iconic Lynx (Ilves) series for a comfortable, secure grip during extended use.
Key Features:
Blade: Forged carbon steel (80CrV2), approximately 11 cm (4.3") long with a hammered, rustic finish that mimics traditional hand-forging. The steel takes an extremely sharp edge that's easy to maintain and sharpen in the field — perfect for bushcraft, carving, game processing, and general outdoor tasks.
Handle: A striking, earthy combination of tar-stained Finnish curly birch (visakoivu) and genuine reindeer antler inserts. Each knife is unique thanks to the natural variations in wood grain and antler patterns — no two are exactly alike.
Overall length: Approximately 22.5–23 cm (about 9").
Sheath: High-quality black leather belt sheath with a wider belt loop for easier carrying, embossed with the Marttiini logo, and featuring a protective plastic liner to safely accommodate the razor-sharp blade.
Handcrafted in Rovaniemi, Lapland the heart of Finnish knife-making tradition since 1928 the Marttiini Aapa is more than just a tool, it's a piece of Nordic heritage designed for serious outdoorsmen, hunters, bushcrafters, and collectors who appreciate authentic materials, timeless design, and uncompromising performance.
Whether you're deep in the forest, by the campfire, or on a demanding hunting trip, the Marttiini Aapa delivers reliable, all-purpose cutting power with unmistakable Finnish soul.
