Karesuando Lantalainen Damascus Thor Knife - 3.85 " Blade - Reindeer Horn Handle
Karesuando in the very north of Lapland has a tradition of handicraft going back generations. Living close to nature, the indigenous Sami people of the north utilised their natural environment in making items that they used every day.
Knives were essential tools, and the reindeer and birch trees prevalent in the north were used in making many of their traditional knives and tools.
The Lantalainen Damascus Thor echoes these traditions of long ago, and is a beautiful knife born of the land from which it was made. A damascus blade with a Thor pattern, the fascinating layer pattern creates an incredibly complex design reminiscent of flickering flames, and is full of charisma. The handle is a lovely stained curly birch and reindeer horn with a brass bolster, and a stitched cowhide sheath.
Damasteel is the only manufacturer in the world that makes a stainless Damascus patterned steel via powder metallurgy. Their highly skilled blacksmiths have a genuine knowledge of both steel production and design. They have been smithing in the small mill town of Söderfors since 1676.
The steel has incomparable toughness and strength combined with excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. This is a very user friendly knife that is as tough as it is stunningly beautiful. In the wilds on expedition, or our on a day hike, this is a knife you will be able to rely on.
